About Me
All my life I have grown up with pets in my home and it has taught me a great many things about empathy and value of life. I could not imagine my life without them. From my first dog Chipper (who will forever hold a piece of my heart), to my cats, guinea pig, hamster, birds, and fish my life with pets has been a constant learning experience.
When my daughter, then 3 or 4 yrs old, declared to my husband and I that she was going to be a veterinarian when she grew up, I was not at all surprised. She too had also developed a strong attachment to animals and shortly thereafter started hinting, suggesting, and insisting on getting a dog. She finally got her wish on Christmas of 2011; the joy and her surprise on her face will be forever etched on my mind! My husband and I took her to the breeder just after the New Year to get first pick from the 3 week old litter. She choose the smallest and bravest of them all: Angel. All of our hearts melted when we held Angel in the palms of our hand and she gave us little puppy kisses. Our hearts then promptly broke when we had to leave Angel and drive 3 hrs back home. The next 5 weeks seemed to drag on forever, but in mid February we finally brought our new family member home and our life has never been the same since.
My daughter and Angel are my inspiration for starting OpPAWtunity Walks & Pet Sitting. I want to be able to share my love and affection with other pets and to be their friend when Mom, Dad, and Best Friends are away at work, school, or on vacation. My promise is to treat your pets as if they were my own extended family; to that end I am certified in Pet First Aid with Walks ‘N Wags and I have taken a dog behaviour course with Caryn Liles of The Centre for Canine Education .
